Don't know which one makes me want to slit my wrists-- in the best possible way-- more: this one, "Scenes From a Marriage" or the relentlessly upbeat (for Bergman, anyway) "Fanny and Alexander." Afraid I can't watch "Persona," "Wild Strawberries" and various others without mentally replaying Woody Allen and others' spoofs on them. Then again, I'm a heathen.

...and yet, so impeccably goddamn gorgeous at the same time.
Quite.
I don't know if it's my favorite Bergman but it's the most special to me since it was my first.
It's my second favourite. Favourite, for me, is a no-brainer - so much so that it makes it into the top ten...

This is PURE art and rhythm and cinema. GLORIOUS. THIS doesn't happen anymore, I'll give you that.
