Bask in this, guys

I love my fellow blogthren. This is perhaps an uncharacteristic show of feeling — and I'll try not to mention a single movie while I'm at it — but there wouldn't be much point to this whole business if the people checking out this blog weren't such a thoroughly remarkable and, frankly, adorable bunch. I'd like, firstly, to thank the three pints of Kronenberg I just had down the street. I'd like to thank Nick, without whom this thing would simply not exist, and who is, as well as an unimprovable human being in just about every respect, my favourite thinker and writer, on films, books, and the whole thing, in the English language. Literally. I'd like to thank Webloge, who knows who she is (which is more than I do) and puts up with all manner of flatmate shit that would send most people screaming out into the London night. I'd like to thank Nat R for being so thoroughly generous with his time and wit, linking over to me from his genuinely stellar site, and all sorts of things. I'd like to thank David S for keeping at it and never being too shy to stick up for his opinions, which literally worry me coming from someone of his modest age: how've you seen all this stuff? Damion for having a terrific blog I fail to check out nearly as often as I should do, par 3182 for being the most brilliant ironist in the smallest space, Dr S for being so obviously marvellous (and 30 today! or is it yesterday already?), ginger for taking such articulate and thoughtful interest in everything I blog about, and all you relative newcomers like ali and goran and javierag and (hey!) mylo. And anyone else I've forgotten in my half-pissed state. Sorry! You all rock. I've no idea where this came from, but you still rock.

See Junebug, by the way.

i hate all of you for loving Junebug more than me (i so want to play in the club) but I will note that I loved Harmour Love right away and I put it on every mix CD I can.

and thank YOU Tim for your very entertaining blog. You manage to pack a lot into tiny little sentences.

Aw, isn't he sweet? :)

Amy Adams presently rocks my world and I loved the rest of Junebug quite a bit also.

That totally made my day! Thank you for the kind words, and thank you for your ever-inspiring blog/writing talents/generosity/kindness. And I concur with Nate: I really do aspire to be as brilliantly succinct as you are!

In the spirit of this last post, I need you all to send emails of support and sympathy to Nick, for reasons that he'll make clear in a blog post soon, but which involve theft and a bruised jaw. I won't say more, as it's his story to tell, and there are people who need to be told first — just send words of kindness his way, OK?

Where did you guys find "Harmour Love"? On iTunes it's only available on some $185 Stevie Wonder collection. I'm not asking for illegality; I would pay my $.99 gladly.

That said.

I heart you and your blog, Tim R. Your movie reviews are so witty and right on. And yes, yes, yes, I loved Junebug to the top of my heart and bought it the day it came out on DVD. Thanks for the shout-out and the birthday wishes.

Thanks so, so much, Tim. I do wonder about the Manichean undercurrents in the world: walking home, thinking how much I agreed with all of your beautifully expressed sentiments about our blogpals, and taken aback by your unbelievable compliments, and wondering what the dandy Dr. S did for her birthday, and then: Wham. But, as I wrote you last night, the friendships and well-wishes will far outlast the sore jaw. Thank goodness for the three pints of Happy you poured out to all of us last night, right before my mean chaser of Unlucky. No question, between the two, my dial still tilts way over to Happy!

And your own post on the subject just turned my dial from Shocked-and-Angry-but-Relieved-You're-OK to Completely-Pissing-Myself-With-Mirth-and-Gratitude. Anyone not sure why I love Nick so much (first identify yourselves, dammit!) get over there right now and read him. Your confusion will clear.

The "rock-age" clearly belongs to you Tim. Thank you for the lovely post, and for the excellent blog (I will comment more often from now on). Daily (sometimes hourly) visits to your journal are staples of my net diet. If that makes any sense...

I am going to rent Junebug again - it seems like one of those films that will play even better the second time around.

It so does. Have a cool weekend, everyone!

Tim, a B for "Dominion"? I saw the earlier version last year and while I thought it was marginally fun (hey, it's about exorcisms) it striked me as a bad, bad film. Is the new version better?

tim r said...

Which do you mean by the earlier version? Exorcist: The Beginning? To me that's pretty much a Renny Harlin spoof of the Schrader film, which is modest and compromised but really rather interesting. Or if there's some earlier cut of the Schrader film, I don't know about it.

Sorry FilmFan, if you're feeling left out! You're great too! I tend to neglect real, live, local pals on this blog...

Oh, you're right, I think it was the Harlin version I saw. I was looking forward to the Schrader movie but that never saw the light of day round here.
