I of course love this entire post, and will have to give Conversations with Other Women a shot on DVD.
I'm interested, though, that Blanchett isn't on your Actress or Supporting Actress lists for I'm Not There. I know you're pretty agnostic about her, but given all the raves swirling around her, do you think the perf is overrated?
In a word, yes. She's good, but she wasn't an especial standout for me, perhaps because the "playing" of Dylan in this movie is such a collective endeavour that I was struggling to pick standouts. I loved Gainsbourg, who I've barely even liked in anything else before, and the usually stolid Bruce Greenwood actually came close to a supporting actor nod...
I'm thinking there's a fair chance you'll hate CWOW, but I found it a revelation: it's a genuinely bitter brew, and the best surprise I've had in a cinema all year.
i think we got that one in 2006 didn't we... and i missed it though I like both HBC and AARON ECKHARDT.
i totally concur on cate vs. the other actors in IM NOT THERE and also that Charlotte Gainsbourg was best in show... but i wish i could feel the love for the movie. Liked it for sure but felt it was so much less than other Haynes efforts. That bar is set so high I realize...
